48 Hours in San Juan, Puerto Rico

Have I said it’s been a busy summer? It’s been busy!

A few weekends ago we escaped for a long weekend in Puerto Rico and it was not nearly enough time!

We flew in on a Thursday afternoon and took a cab to Condado, San Juan. After checking in at the hotel, we walk around and realized that this was the town for us!

We walked around to get our bearings, scout out beaches, and see what food was around us. We ended the night in La Placita at La Alcapurria Quemá (#22 on Eater’s recommended eats list) where we had an alcapurria, friend pork, tostones, and plantains. It was a fabulous introduction to Puerto Rican food.

The next day we headed strait to Condado beach.

My first immediate – and reoccurring – regret was that we did not stay at the Vandberbilt and were unable to sit on the lovely beach chairs. But the beach was large and the water was warm. After a few hours, we packed up and traveled down to the beach at the Hilton which was rocky, but also protected from waves, so it was very tranquil.

For lunch we stopped at Kabanas for outdoor tacos and coconuts.

After a hard day at the beach, we headed back to the hotel for a nap and rooftop Pina Coladas before dinner.

I think tropical environments agree with us!
